About the AuthorS. Edwin Megargee was born in 1883 in Philadelphia, and studied art at Georgetown, Drexel, and in New York. He became a professional animal painter, specializing in dogs, horses, cattle, wildlife, and of course, poultry. He wrote many articles on various breeds of poultry, always with original illustrations. Many of the old hatchery catalogs used his poultry paintings as the advertisements for their breeds, and prints of his work remain popular today. He passed away in 1958 at the age of 75. |
