Bantam Sicilian ButtercupsBantam Sicilian Buttercups were developed much later than the original large fowl, during the mid 1900's. It wasn't until 1960 that they were admitted to the American Poultry Association's Standard of Perfection.
Bantams are miniaturized versions of large chicken breeds, and are primarily utilized as show birds or pets. Their smaller size makes them ideal as a 4H project for kids or a small backyard layer for those with less space. Despite their small stature, bantam Buttercups are found to be hardy and strong. Unfortunately, over the last few decades, bantam Buttercups have become a rare breed and need more breeders today. |
